Through the current European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Programme 2007 - 2013, over £155 million has been awarded to 97 projects to date, aimed at creating jobs, stimulating regeneration, and helping to support businesses in the region to grow, boost productivity and improve competitiveness. From these projects:
• 18,136 jobs will be created or safeguarded and 8,634 people to be helped to find a job
• 7,977 people will be helped to start a business with 2,541 new businesses to be created
• 16,610 businesses will be helped including SMEs and social enterprises to improve their
performance
• Over £103 million of public and private funds will be invested within the region
