Energy Crop Boiler Guide

17/11/2010

The National Non-Food Crops Centre provides free, up-to-date and independent advice to farmers on growing energy crops and using farm residues in anaerobic digestion. This includes energy crop agronomy, how to apply for planting grants, cost calculators, a map of operational biomass burning power stations and more.

Energy Crop Boiler Guide

Crops like Miscanthus and SRC willow are being successfully used to provide on-farm renewable heat. However, they may not be suitable for all biomass boilers, as a result of their high ash content and alkalinity. It is therefore important to choose the correct boiler for the correct feedstock. The NNFCC’s Energy Crop Boiler Guide offers those considering using energy crops to produce heat, the chance to compare and identify suitable boilers.

The guide is freely available to down load from www.powerplants2020.co.uk
