Redditch businesses invited to take part in survey

16/01/2012

REDDITCH businesses are being encouraged to take part in a survey which could help to shape skills for future employees and encourage growth in the borough.

The survey has been organised as part of a joint initiative between Redditch Council, Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, MP for Redditch Karen Lumley, and local employment recruitment agency E-Response.

It has already been sent to around 500 businesses and will ask what skills and qualifications employers in the town are looking for when they recruit staff. The results will help the council discover what steps need to be taken to help encourage business to thrive in the borough over the next few years. The information will also be fed into the local college.

Redditch Council chief executive Kevin Dicks said: “This is a great chance for business owners and managers to let us know what they want from their future employees. We are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved.”

Portfolio holder for economic development, Councillor Jinny Pearce, said: “It is great to see these organisations working together to help identify the skill requirements of local businesses. I hope businesses take up this opportunity to let us know their needs.”

Businesses can complete the survey by visiting redditchbc.gov.uk/business or they can request a paper copy by calling 01527 534082. The deadline for completion is Monday, January 23.
